Who Is...DOCTOR HORRIBLE?

Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a coming soon from Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly). It's a musical comedy starring Neil Patrick Harris as Doctor Horrible, a low-rent super-villain, with Firefly's Nathan Fillion and Buffy's Felicia Day. This promises to be something interesting! Whedon is a well-known fan of musicals, and created his own "mondo musical" with the acclaimed "Once More With Feeling" episode of Buffy. Stay tuned!

REPO! The Genetic Opera

Here's the trailer for a new rock-opera film that is set for release in April. It looks like a cross between Sweeney Todd and Blade Runner - and if that ain't mondo, I don't know what is!



The movie stars Paul Sorvino, an actor not usually known for his singing, but he got good reviews as the lead in Loesser's The Most Happy Fella at the New York City Opera in 2006. It also features Sarah Brightman (star of The Phantom of the Opera and the ex-Mrs. Lloyd-Webber), Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, and a very popular Frank N. Furter in the 90s), and 80s rocker Joan Jett (who played Columbia in Rocky Horror on Broadway). It also stars Paris Hilton, but we won't hold that against it.
